Comprehensive Garden Design Service
A full garden design service can provide you with the garden of your dreams. Through eliminating issues, offering solutions that you may not have considered and creating a beautiful and useful space that will be perfectly tailored to your lifestyle.
The general process that is followed is set out below. If you have any questions about this and would like more information, please contact me directly.

Site Meeting
The process will start with a phone call, followed by a site visit to see your garden in person and discuss in detail your requirements, aspirations and key objectives. This meeting is followed up with a proposal, that captures your brief, along with a detailed breakdown of the process and the design fee proposal.

Survey & Analysis
A site visit is undertaken at this stage to carry out a photographic survey and analysis of the garden. Alongside this, a topographical survey is required to record all the facts about the garden – this includes level changes, services, utilities, buildings, trees and so on. This survey forms the basis for accurate design plans, and feeds into the design process.

Concept Design
A concept design presentation will be provided to you, which will include plans and elevations of an outline design for your garden. These will be complimented by planting and material palettes and mood boards. Together this information will provide a clear overview of how your finished garden will look. This is a discussion document that should assist with the evolution of the design and lead to your final agreed master plan.

Detailed Design
Once the concept design is finalised, we can move onto the detail. Every element of the project is considered from paving finishes, through to lighting and drainage. Bespoke items can be developed, including outdoor kitchens, bin stores, bike sheds and children’s play areas. It is this level of detail that will elevate your space. Any changes to the outline design will be drawn up into the masterplan. Construction drawings, specifications and schedules, will be created, which will enable a landscape contractor to accurately cost the build.

Planting Design
Whilst this process forms part of the Detailed Design Section, Planting Design can also be undertaken separately. The planting will be tailored to your taste and needs. A moodboard of all plants will be provided to give you a feel for the finished effect.
Detailed planting plans, specifications and schedules can be produced, enabling the procurement and setting out of the plants, to be undertaken by myself, or by your chosen landscape contractor. The documents will also provide a lasting record for you to use as your garden grows.
A maintenance schedule can be produced to ensure you, or your gardener, are confident in looking after and maintaining your garden for years to come.

Construction
If you do not have a preferred contractor, I can assist at the tender stage by producing full drawing packages and specifications. I can also support you in the planning process if any of the elements of the design require listed building consent or planning permission.
I like to work closely with the landscape contractor and undertake regular site visits during the build to ensure that the plans are being implemented correctly and to assist with problem solving onsite.

Completion
Following the completion of your dream garden, personalised care guides for your planting will be provided to ensure that you, or your gardener, are confident in looking after and maintaining your garden for years to come.
I love to stay in touch with my clients and gardeners and I suggest a visit 6 months after the works are complete to see how the design is working and how the planting is bedding in. I will always remain available for advice in the intervening period if required.
